Lymphatic Massage: Protocols for Complex Conditions

Prerequisite: This intensive one-day course is designed for massage therapists who have completed a foundational lymphatic drainage class.

This 14-hour, 2-day course builds on foundational lymphatic massage training to provide advanced assessment, treatment planning, and protocol application for clients with more complex lymphatic needs. Therapists will review lymphatic anatomy in depth, including the body’s watersheds and lymph pathways from initial lymph collectors through the entire system. Instruction includes mastery of five core manual lymph drainage strokes, advanced protocols for conditions such as lymphedema, lipedema, and region-specific swelling in the head/neck, arms, and legs, and a review of contraindications to ensure safety. Participants will also learn to distinguish between edema and lymphedema, including how lymphedema is a mechanical dysfunction of the lymphatic system whereas edema is a symptom of another underlying process. The course also offers a preview of how fascial restrictions, scar tissue, and tight muscles can impede lymph flow—serving as a bridge to more advanced study.
