Job Description:

Advanced Kinetics Physical Therapy (AKPT) is looking for a part-time Contract Massage Therapist to work in our medical setting in conjunction with physical therapy staff. AKPT is looking for a hard working candidate that is interested in sports performance and working with clients recovering from injury. This role offers 15-20 hours per week, with opportunity to add additional hours as client base grows.

The ideal candidate is passionate about promoting a holistic approach to personal health. Experience with various massage services that can help reduce pain and stress, such as deep tissue, Swedish, reflexology, trigger point, and lymphatic drainage massage are preferred but not required. Open to new grads. The Massage Therapist must be comfortable with sales. Clinic offers marketing support. To apply for this position, you must have Massage Therapist License for Virginia.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 30-60-90 minute massages to clients by appointment
  • Guide clients through service offerings and determine which massages would benefit them most
  • Take a detailed client history and note any health conditions
  • Evaluate clients to determine painful or stressed areas of the body
  • Listen to clients during appointments and adjust technique as they desire
  • Encourage future massage appointments and regime to clients
  • Ability to market independently for new clientele
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well with multi-disciplinary staff and thrive in a team environment

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and client skills
  • Friendly, outgoing and compassionate
  • CPR certified (preferred)
  • Independent and good time management skills
  • Background in kinesiology, exercise science or pre-physical therapy (preferred)
  • Must hold current massage therapy certification – 525 hours minimum completed
  • Demonstrated sales and customer service skills
  • At least 1-2 years of experience (preferred)
