Job Description:
- Administer different types of massages, including Swedish, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, and therapeutic massages tailored to individual client needs.
- Consult with clients to understand their physical conditions and stress-related concerns, designing personalized massage programs accordingly.
- Create a comfortable and soothing atmosphere for clients during treatments, ensuring a safe and clean workspace.
- Assess client’s soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength and range of motion.
- Prepare, blend and heat oils and apply substances to members’ bodies as needed.
- Develop and propose client treatment plans.
- Maintain detailed and accurate treatment records for each client, tracking progress and any other noteworthy conditions.
- Complete necessary information to bill Member/Guest for massage therapy service.
- Coordinate and communicate scheduling with Fitness Desk Attendant(s).
- Communicate to Director of Fitness & Wellness about customers or massage operations concerns.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary Vocational/Technical School.
- One year of experience as a Massage Therapist.
- Must have First Aid and CPR/AED training.
- Must have a valid State Massage Therapy License.
- Expertise in multiple massage modalities including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, hot and cold stone massage, acupressure and reflexology.
- Proficient knowledge of anatomy and physiology, excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Physical stamina to perform massages for multiple clients.

This is a post for a fully furnished space for lease to a licensed massage therapist seeking to start their own business or expand to another location.
District Psychiatry and Wellness is offering a fully furnished room for sublease to a licensed massage therapist or acupuncturist. Our prime location near the intersection of N Washington and King Street in Old Town Alexandria is perfectly located for any business. Tenants will enjoy ample foot traffic and ease of client access.
Room furnishings include a desk, chair, bench, storage, sheets, a heating blanket, and an electric massage chair. Tenant will also have access to all shared amenities of the clinic, including the waiting room, complimentary client beverages, and guest WiFi.
The room will also provide indirect exposure to District Psychiatry and Wellness’ clientele and may provide referrals, though this additional business is not guaranteed.
